Holidays are coming!

The bosses at Alicante airport are excited by what looks to be a record breaking summer.

They have confirmed there is a 14% rise on the seats being offered for high season (April until the end of October).

Santiago Martinez-Cava, the airport manager, says that they are forecasting a figure of around 13 million passengers at the airport this year. This would be a seven hundred thousand rise on what was confirmed a record figure in 2016.

The projection rises are said to be strongly down to the UK holiday makers, who do not appear to be concerned by the current lower exchange rates. British based tour companies are said to be offering 5 million seats during the high season, a 17 percent increase on last summer. Tour companies appear to continue to switch resources from North African and Turkish resorts due to terrorism threats.

It is said that 4.9 million seats have been reserved purely for the UK market, but they have also seen a massive increase for other countries. Over half a millions seats are destined for Swedish travellers, a jump of 36 percent, along with a 24 percent boost for connections to Holland, ear marking them around 716 thousand seats.

It has been confirmed there is a total of 203 routes, 66 thousand flights are scheduled over the next seven months, new routes to Lisbon, Toulouse and Marseille, with an increase of 15 routes altogether compared to last years peak period.

The destination with the largest amount of seats on offer is Gatwick airport with over 801 thousand seats on offer, but there have been big increases logged for the high season on connections with popular places, such as Barcelona and Birmingham.

So the way the market is going things are hopefully going to get better, more tourists, means more people needing places to stay. If you are interested in Spanish property either for yourselves or as an investment, give Golf Sun Spanish Property a call and let us help you fulfil your dreams.
