Spanish wines come out on top
5 Apr

Those of us, who like the odd glass of VINO, we know that there are good wines and fabulous wines. But of course with all things good there is also bad, leaving these wines to just about make their way to being added to our sauces during cooking, to hide their taste somewhat.

The Gran Bacchus 2016 – a wine tasting festival in Madrid, took place last weekend. It was organised by the Spanish Union of Wine Tasters (UEC). Here more than 70 expert wine tasters from around the world gathered to put their expertise to the test.1800 wines from both national and international wines were put through their paces to find the best for this year.

A tough job, for us partial to a glass, or maybe not!

The judges were placed into small groups and were asked to taste the wines which were fully hidden, not allowing them to see anything apart from a code to differentiate one from the other.

From the 1800 wines the top 13 were awarded prizes, and 7 of these 13 were of Spanish Origin.VIVA ESPAÑA!!!

A couple of them to maybe keep our eyes open for are: Carpe Diem Trasañejo (Malaga) priced at 17.99 euros and Arzuaga crianza 2013 (Ribera Del Duero) priced at 17.50 euros.
